Dotforge is different

We’re focused on doing good

Unlike a standard tech accelerator, we don’t just measure your business. We measure your social impact. All of the Dotforge Impact startups are sparked by a desire to solve a social problem which is a catalyst for tech innovation.

We connect global solutions to local challenges

We bring to bear the knowledge and experience of social innovators from around the world on issues that are both hyper local but also universal.

We’re flexible

Tech4Good startups on Dotforge join as a company limited by shares but could leave as a CIC or a charity. We provide the flexibility to make sure you do whatever works best for your social mission and business.

We’re the only Tech4Good accelerator outside of London

Dotforge is the only Tech4Good accelerator programme based in the North of England and only in the North of England. We believe in supporting the Tech4Good ecosystem outside of London whilst leveraging links to the capital.

Dotforge was founded in 2012 by 12 angel investors. Taking the learnings from successful technology accelerators in 2013 and 2014, in true startup fashion, the Dotforge team pivoted to support Tech4Good Social Ventures….

  • In 2014 Dotforge launched Dotforge Impact as part of the Cabinet Office’s Social Incubator Fund and in collaboration with KeyFund, The Big Lottery and The RSA.
  • Fast forward 2 years, and we’re now in three cities across the North: Sheffield, Manchester and Leeds and we’re looking to start our next adventure in Nottingham.
  • We’ve supported 24 startups through Dotforge Impact in Manchester and Sheffield in 2015.
  • We learned from our experiences from Impact and in 2016 we took 7 startups through Dotforge Health + Data in Leeds in partnership with EMISHealth, TechNorth, Mercia Fund and Yorkshire and Humber AHSN.
  • We now run accelerators, innovation days and help corporates understand new business models.
  • We are focused on supporting the Tech4Good ecosystem outside of London whilst leveraging links to the capital and connecting social innovators from around the world.
  • We are building the ecosystem by running accelerators and working with local communities and problem owners to innovate.
  • We help create alternative CSR programmes by working with corporates to support long term sustainable solutions.
  • We encompass startup ideologies and always do good at the same time.
